School of Music's Associate Professor of Trumpet Peyden Shelton taught a masterclass to trumpet students at the University of Central Florida working with soloists and ensembles. Each student gave a fantastic representation of their own progress on their musical pieces. Dr. Shelton worked on articulation, clarity in tone, refinement in double tonguing resonance, and finding simple solutions to problems by singing and moving to show phrasing and projection. UCF is a peer studio in the Big XII and the School of Music hopes to connect with them at the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) and the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) this coming year. A big thanks to hosts: Dr. Jesse Cook, Dr. Lyman Brodie, and Professor Luis Burke.
