WHAT IS ARTS PASS?
The University of Utah’s award-winning and one-of-a-kind Arts Pass program is fueled by students’ Fine Arts Fees and provides all fee-paying U of U students with free or deeply discounted access to hundreds of arts experiences on campus each year. All you need is your UCard.
WHAT CAN I GET WITH THE ARTS PASS?
You get free or deeply discounted access to arts experiences on campus hosted by the College of Fine Arts and our professional arts affiliates which includes:
- Department of Art & Art History exhibitions in the Gittins Gallery and any art guest lecture (no tickets required, swipe card upon entry to Gittins Gallery).
- School of Dance performances in the Marriott Center for Dance (one (1) free ticket per day can be picked up at the Kingsbury Box Office or at the door in Marriott Center for Dance).
- Department of Film & Media Arts screenings and events (no tickets required).
- School of Music performances in David Gardner Hall (one (1) free ticket per day available at the Kingsbury box office ahead of time or at the School of Music Box Office which opens one hour prior to the concert for ticketed events on the first level in the atrium in Gardner Hall).
- Department of Theatre productions (tickets available at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre box office).
- One (1) free ticket per day of the productions in the Meldrum Theatre. A second ticket to the same day can be purchased for $10.50. This means, you can attend the show more than once for free!
- One (1) free ticket per run of the productions in Babcock and Studio 115. A second ticket to the same production can be purchased for $10.50!
- UtahPresents Series admission is only $5 (tickets available at Kingsbury Hall box office).
- Up to two (2) $5 tickets to any Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) performance. Just bring your valid UCard/Arts Pass to the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre box office an hour before the show.
- Free admission to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) including special exhibitions, permanent collections galleries, etc. (no tickets required, swipe card at front desk).
HOW DO I GET AN ARTS PASS?
Your UCard is your Arts Pass! UCards are issued to each student of the University of Utah at the UCard Office in the Union Building. Just bring your Ucard with you to the box office at or at the door of each venue night of the performance. You will still need to get a printed ticket. Just hand your UCard to the box office agent and they will swipe your card and give you your ticket. It is that easy!
WHAT IF I FORGET MY UCARD?
You will not be able to receive a free ticket without your UCard. We would be happy to sell you a very reasonably priced ticket for the event, however.
CAN I GET MORE THAN ONE TICKET?
Our venues have different offerings, and many include multiple tickets to a performance and the ability to attend more than just once per run. See the details of what you can get from each area/venue in the “What can I get with the Arts Pass” section above.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I GO TO ONE EVENT? IS THERE A LIMIT ON HOW MANY EVENTS I CAN GO TO?
There is no limit (if tickets are available) on the number of times you can enjoy events put on by the College of Fine Arts’ academic units. Some areas limit free tickets to some events, but after that, you’ll still enjoy a considerable U student discount if you want to attend again.
Students can receive one $5 ticket to each UtahPresents Series events, limited availability.
Any Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) offers up to (2) two $5 tickets to each performance (this means each show of a run, not just once during the run). Just bring your valid UCard/Arts Pass to the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre box office an hour before the show.
Students get in free to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts when it is open.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY TICKETS?
No. Only the owner of the UCard may pick up their Arts Pass ticket(s).
ARE THERE ANY BLACKOUT DATES OR SPECIAL EVENTS THAT DO NOT APPLY?
Yes, there might be special events that will not be available for the Arts Pass. Student rates will apply if possible. These may be for fund raisers, or co-sponsored events. Look for the Arts Pass Logo to tell which are Arts Pass events!
WHAT ABOUT STUDENTS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS?
We love sharing art and inviting students from all universities! Yes, special non-U student rates apply for students of other universities or colleges. Check the website of the venue you’re visiting for more information.
CAN I GET TICKETS ONLINE?
Unforunately not. Arts Pass tickets must be picked up in person so you can present your UCard.
DOES ARTS PASS WORK IN THE SUMMER, TOO?
Yes, your UCard is your Arts Pass for as long as you are a student at the University of Utah! While most of our major events happen during the fall and spring semesters, there are some summer events and students can always visit the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.

WHAT IF AN EVENT IS SOLD OUT?
Tickets are available on first come, first serve basis, and sometimes we do sell out. Many experiences offer more than one date/time to attend, so if one is sold out, we hope you’ll try for another day or time!
WHAT DO STUDENT FINE ARTS FEES FUND?
The Fine Arts Fee supports various arts and culture resources on campus, including the Arts Pass program. This program provides free or greatly reduced tickets to all matriculated University of Utah students for various campus performances, productions, exhibitions, and other cultural events. A small portion of the funds also support FAF grants, the Fine Arts portion of ASUU student group fees, which offers grants to student groups.
