cross·roads /ˈkrôsˌrōdz/ n. an intersection of two or more roads; a point at which a crucial decision must be made that will have far-reaching consequences.
Meet the School of Dance at the intersection of dance disciplines at cross・roads, the opening concert of the 2024-25 season.
cross・roads will take place on the Hayes Christensen Theatre stage in the Marriott Center for Dance with performances from Sep. 26 through Oct. 5. Concert Director Daniel Clifton says cross・roads will “celebrate creativity, physicality, humanity, and our collective exploration of self, one another, technology, and the world around us.”
The concert will begin with a piece unlike any you’ve ever seen: “Scylla_System_(v.1)” by faculty member Eric Handman with collaboration from Zach Duer and Scotty Hardwire of Virginia Tech. This piece—performed from behind a protective screen— features dancers performing with drones, blurring the line between real and programmed communication.
The other three pieces of the concert are original works, choreographed specifically for this concert, by faculty member Melissa Bobick and guest artists Victor Rottier and Trey McIntyre. These pieces promise to be vibrant, exciting work.
Meet us at the intersection and experience the cross・roads of dance and possibility.
