The Department of Theatre's Assistant Professor & Head of Movement's A. Raheim White completed a performance residency of "Black on Earth" with Brother(hood) Dance! at Wexner Center for the Arts to sold out audiences.
"Black on Earth" seamlessly integrates dance, agriculture, and technology in an innovative and thought-provoking performance project. This powerful artistic endeavor illuminates Black farmers’ resilience, wisdom, and cultural heritage while addressing the urgent issues of food justice and sustainable farming practices. The project incorporates projections, soundscapes, and interactive elements that allows audiences to experience the sights, sounds, and stories of Black farmers.
Formed by Orlando Zane Hunter Jr. and Ricarrdo Valentine, Brother(hood) Dance! creates performances that challenge, inspire, and unite communities through the power of dance, agriculture, and technology. The company has performed in the United States, Mexico, Haiti, and Denmark, to name a few, and are honorees of the New York Dance and Performance - Bessie Award for Outstanding Performance and Visual Design (2020).
