The ALSO Sisters and Department of Film & Media Arts Assistant Professors, Miriam and Sonia Albert-Sobrino, continue to garner recognition and awards for their two horror short films, “The Unbearing” and “No Man is an Island." THE UNBEARING
After resorting to an illegal abortion, a pest control worker must eliminate the sinister presence growing inside her before it takes control of her body and life.
- Notes: This film was directed, photographed, and edited by the ALSO Sisters, and written, executive produced, and starred in by Katerina Eichenberger., with music composed by Tangelene Bolton ("Warrior Nun," "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens"). Additionally, two University of Utah F&MAD alumni served on the crew: Terri Zitong Diao (Film ‘24) served as First Assistant Camera for the second unit in Salt Lake City, and Lana Ballenot (Film ‘24) contributed extensive VFX and compositing to a complex shot, earning the credit of “additional VFX artist.” The film was distributed by Freak Agency.

With recognition in top competitions like Slamdance and Screencraft, the script ranks in the top 3% of over 164,000 projects, highlighting its innovative storytelling and strong potential for adaptation into TV, film, or graphic novel formats. On Coverfly, "No Man is an Island" appears on "The Red List" at #11 Horror Short in the past month (March 2025) and also received Top 20 Horror Short of the Month (March 2025) and Top 20 Short of the Month (January 2025).

No Man Is an Island – Screenplay Development
Separately, the anthology series episode “No Man Is an Island” was selected for the Stowe Story Labs 2025 June Narrative Lab (June 6–9, Vermont). This highly competitive program supports screenwriters with mentorship, industry connections, and narrative development opportunities, highlighting the project’s strong potential for future production.
