School of Music Associate Professor Elizabeth T. Craft recently published "Yankee Doodle Dandy: George M. Cohan and the Broadway Stage" with Oxford University Press. The book has been praised as “a brilliantly nuanced tapestry that illuminates and celebrates her subject’s extraordinary contributions not just to the American musical theatre but also to continuing perceptions of nationhood, patriotism, and identity.” Lin-Manuel Miranda describes it as “a compulsively readable addition to the history of musical theatre.” A book launch was recently held at La Mirada Theatre in California. An interview about the book was recently broadcast on Talk Radio Europe, and the book has been named to BroadwayWorld’s “25 Theater Books for Your Summer 2024 Reading List” and the New York Theater blog’s “New Theater Books to Read in Summer 2024.”
