"Cultivating Peace," a curated group exhibition featuring works by Painting & Drawing Professor V. Kim Martinez, Art Teaching Professor Beth Krensky, Artnauts members, and nine Rwandan artists, opens Friday, August 9th from 5-7pm at Rwanda's Kigali Genocide Memorial.
About the exhibition: "Cultivating Peace" expresses peace principles that center on the idea of peace as an active pursuit, one that must be nurtured and cultivated in order to have an everlasting effect. The exhibition and related activities are a means to initiate dialogue and form relationships, always with an eye towards achieving world peace.
About the memorial: Rwanda's Kigali Genocide Memorial is operated by Aegis Trust, on behalf of the Government of Rwanda. It was established in 2004 to honor the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi and confronts genocide's ideologies globally with a peace education center, gardens, an archive, and an amphitheater actively pursues peace and reconciliation.
