The Endowed Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program (BTSALP) Fellowship is awarded to select outstanding arts teaching students in the CFA who are passionate about pursuing a career in the field of arts education. Applicants must provide strong evidence of school or community-based pedagogical experience working with young people and educators in grades K-12. Fellowship funding is for one year (two consecutive semesters). Fellowship amount: $2,000 ($1,000 in fall and $1,000 in spring)
Endowed BTSALP Fellowship responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Teach and train 5 hours a month with top BTSALP specialists at local elementary schools in the University of Utah region.
- Engage in 2-hour monthly meetings with other BTSALP Endowed Fellows and mentor BTSALP specialists.
- Support the planning and implementation of ArtsLINK, CFA’s annual arts integration conference.
- Attend BTSALP professional learning opportunities alongside classroom teachers and BTSALP specialists.
- Average fellowship hours per month = 8-10 hours. Some months require more teaching and planning than others.
Mission:
- To strengthen and increase arts education research, practice, and advocacy.
- To support and encourage pedagogical development of outstanding arts teaching students pursuing teacher licensure in the College of Fine Arts (CFA) as they pertain to the implementation and practice of arts integration.
