Last week, the College of Fine Arts was delighted to host Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Utah Department of Film & Media Arts, filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung. Chung's first film, Munyurangabo, premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival to great acclaim. His most recent film, Minari, was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, and Chung himself was nominated for two Oscars in Screenplay and Direction.
Students, faculty, staff and friends of the College gathered for an intimate discussion between Chung and Andrew Patrick Nelson, Chair of the Department of Film and Media Arts. Attendees had the opportunity to not only hear about Chung's unique path and influences, but ask their burning questions about the making of Minari. Following the discussion, guests enjoyed a reception complete with food and live music from U School of Music jazz students.
