Two students in the Department of Art & Art History have brightened up a high-traffic student space in the College of Pharmacy with a stunning original mural.

Xhantall Aguilar, painting and drawing student, and Ryan Steadman-Eves, art teaching student, completed the project — from planning to painting — in under a month. Adjunct assistant professor Sydney Porter Williams facilitated the collaboration with the College of Pharmacy Dean’s Office and enlisted the two artists.

“We just renovated this space to be our new student computer lab,” explained Krista Loertscher, executive assistant to College of Pharmacy Dean Randall Peterson.  “It's in an awkward space with no windows. The idea was to add brightness, light and FUN to the lab.”

“We asked our artists for either a landscape or pharmacy research-related theme, and were thrilled with their concept,” she continued. “We fell in love with the fun, bright colors as soon as we saw them. The students wanted a space that combines the lab, a food pantry, and a gathering spot. I know that this mural will draw them in!”
