U Dept. of Art & Art History’s Annual Holiday Sale

Dec 2 from 4-7pm (free parking in Lot #8 on this day) & Dec 3–4 from 10am-6:30pm

Gittins Gallery

Shop for handcrafted and unique art by students (and some faculty). All proceeds to benefit student clubs and organizations.

 

U School of Dance’s Ballet Showcase

Dec 4–6 @ 7:30pm

Marriott Center for Dance

Be moved and uplifted by new dance works choreographed by students. Free and open to the public.

 

U Dept. of Film & Media Arts’ LIVE/WIRED: Live Cinema and AI-generated films

Dec 5 from 8–10pm

Film & Media Arts Building

In LIVE/WIRED, students present hybrid works that blur boundaries between human and machine creativity. Audiences can move through the building to encounter performances and AI experiences. Free and open to the public. Attendees can receive a free Arts Pass shirt while supplies last.

 

U Dept. of Theatre’s MTP Senior Showcase

A culmination of the hard work put in by the University of Utah Musical Theatre Program senior class. Enjoy a delightful night of musical theatre acts as students showcase their unique talents and personalities! Pay what you can from $5–25 or U of U Students - Free w/current UCard aka Arts Pass.

 

Pioneer Theatre Company’s “Noises Off”

Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre

Not seen at Pioneer Theatre Company for nearly 20 years, "Noises Off" makes its return to the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Join us this holiday season for a healthy dose of slamming doors, backstage drama, and a rogue plate of sardines!

 

Annual UMFA Holiday Market 

Dec 6–7 from 9am–5pm

Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Find local and handmade creations in jewelry, textiles, candles, paintings, ceramics, prints, artisan toffee, handbound books, fiber art, soaps, and so much more. Shopping at the Holiday Market is free (with plenty of free parking). Make a day of it and enjoy live music performed by U School of Music students, get lunch or a beverage at The Museum Café, or tour the Museum’s latest exhibitions! Museum galleries will require an entrance fee. 

 

Red Butte Garden’s “Holiday Open House & Art Fair”

Dec 6–7 from 9am–5pm (Orangerie opens at 10am)

Red Butte Garden and Arboretum

Enjoy an incredible shopping experience featuring handmade treasures created by 17 local makers. Explore stunning jewelry, vibrant glass art, beautiful ceramics, inspiring wall art, and so much more. Garden members receive an additional 10% off. Free Garden admission thanks to Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP). 

 

Utah Presents “The Lower Lights Christmas Concerts”

One of Utah’s favorite holiday traditions is making its joyful return to Kingsbury Hall! Gather your loved ones and get ready to sing, sway, and celebrate, as The Lower Lights light up the stage with their signature blend of foot-stomping energy and heartfelt harmonies.

Natural History Museum’s interactive Storytime is designed to ignite the imagination of young visitors as they explore fascinating tales inspired by our natural world. This month’s book is “Missy Wants a Mammoth” by Pam Vaughan. Interactive activity to follow. This program is FREE with admission to the Museum or become a Museum Member today.

 

UMFA’s Third Saturday for Families: Make Your Own Game

Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Admission to the Museum is free every third Saturday of the month, and there is always an art-making activity for the whole family. This Third Saturday, learn about games from all over the world and then create your own! Get inspiration from our latest ACME exhibition The Art of Play and create your own game board that doubles as a work of art.
