Film and Media Arts first year graduate student, Dana Ware was the recipient of a prestigious University Film and Video Association (UFVA) Graduate Student Fellowship. The award, one of six offered to graduate students in film nationwide, entitled Dana to attend the annual UFVA conference for free and to attend a series of events aimed at professional critique and development.

This year’s conference, held at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, was also attended by Department alums Rulon Wood, Anamika Bandopathay and Nathan Scoll as well as faculty member and Director of Graduate Studies Chris Lippard, all of whom presented work-in-progress. Chris makes the point that such national professional and academic conferences are vital for maintaining contact with and supporting alumni now working elsewhere and for introducing current students to the experience of critique and collaboration. “Dana, for example, has now established a valuable peer group based all over the country with whom to share her work and ideas,” he adds. “Her award of a Graduate Student Fellowship also draws attention to our program at Utah”. Congratulations Dana, we can't wait to see what amazing things you do!
