Parker Rawlins

Graduate SAC Chair in Film & Media Arts

Parker Rawlins is a second-year graduate student in the Department of Film and Media Arts. He’s currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production, with an emphasis as a writer/director. He is originally from Springville, Utah, but spent his teen years in Rexburg, Idaho, after which he attended Southern Utah University and received a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts along with a minor in Film and Screen Studies.

He was initially drawn to the College of Fine Arts at the University of Utah due to its highly regarded faculty and staff, diverse student body, and impressive portfolio of student work. Additionally, the University of Utah offers the only MFA degree in Film within the entire state of Utah, so it truly was a dream school to attend for Parker. Upon graduation in Spring 2023, he plans to continue his career path towards becoming an independent filmmaker, specializing in character-driven genre films.
